The bill of rights has ten crucial elements, limiting government power over the people to protect it from ever becoming tyrannical. When the government seeks to strip away these rights there should be a serious call to action among the citizenry so we don’t become victims to government power abuses.
The 2nd Amendment, although controversial to extreme leftists, is the one right that protects all others. The worst tyrants of democidal governments took away weapons before mass executing their own citizens.
Dictators like Adolf Hilter, Mao Tze Tung, Josef Stalin, Pol Pot, Idi Amin and other mass murderers, all took away the guns first using the excuse to protect their own citizens. In actuality, they had a different agenda. Yet, like neo-liberal politicians today, the masses believe their intentions without looking into their corporate ties with the military industrial complex.
“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.” – President Eisenhower
A moderate approach to the gun control issue may background and psychological checks as well as safety education before purchasing them. However, it’s important to recognize the threat of our corrupt government initiating any gun control measure that the people themselves do not approve.
This echoes the wise words of the one of our nation’s founders.
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” – Benjamin Franklin
The reality is that true American leaders that helped our nation in reality, spoke in favor of full 2nd Amendment rights, while tyrants openly expressed disdain for a well armed citizenry.
“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let’s not have any native militia or native police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order throughout the occupied Russian territories, and a system of military strong-points must be evolved to cover the entire occupied country.” – Adolf Hitler
“If the opposition disarms, well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves.” Joseph Stalin
“War can only be abolished through war, and in order to get rid of the gun it is necessary to take up the gun.” – Mao Tze Tung
Uganda established gun control in 1970 under tyrant Idi Amin. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Our founders knew the dangers of gun control and spoke openly about it.
“From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good.” – George Washington
As a martial artist, I recognize the inherent need to protect life, to protect family and community. The Shao Lin monks didn’t develop fighting arts because they were obsessed with violence, on the contrary, they were obsessed with protecting their spiritual temples and their people. If gun laws take away guns from law abiding citizens, only criminals will have guns. Just look at Chicago if you need more evidence. Where they have the strictest gun control measures, they have the most homicide.
All one has to do is look at history and the present state of gun control. The founders warned us. If the 2nd Amendment is taken away, all liberty can be lost. Are we really to pretend that police will protect us from a random violent criminal with a gun engaged in a violent act against us right when we would otherwise need them?
Only an armed citizen can protect others in time of emergency where criminals threaten others with their weapons that in many cases, are acquired illegally to begin with.
Think for yourself. If a robber came to your home to hurt you and take your belongings, will you feel safer with pots, pans and brooms against their assault rifle, or would you rather have a firearm of your own to defend yourself. Logic must be applied, think clearly and deep about this issue. It may save your life one day.
This is one of the “controversial” issues in politics today. Just because it’s my personal opinion, doesn’t mean that it’s the opinion of RIPAC, let me be clear. However, I feel like the debate and controversy of this topic can garner attention from both gun control advocates and full 2nd amendment supporters to debate, communicate and seek to find the solutions we all want which i s less gun violence and to keep the guns out of the hands of criminals.
The answers we come up with should we discuss this issue, may be new ideas from the people ourselves that none of the ideological politicians have come up with. I personally believe we can find a common middle ground solution that the majority will agree on, should we approach this issue from a perspective of unity and solving problems with creativity.
Let the debate begin and let the people decide.
