Alabama became the 22nd State in the Union on December 14th, 1819

Alabama Offers: Recalls and Initiatives in the City of Birmingham.

Signature Requirements:

  • Initiatives: 10% of qualified electors.
  • Recalls: 3% of the registered voters in the municipality or 30% of those who voted in the last election.

Alabama Code §11-44-130 through 11-44-134 gives citizens the right to recall some local elected representatives.

Initiatives and Referenda – Birmingham County Only. Must be related to Health and Safety in City Code 11-3A.

Recalls: In Municipalities with Commission form of government.
