Initiatives let the people decide by popular vote.
RIPAC will only file initiatives backed by sound constitutional principles that have been vetted and debated by our members. The legal system prevents anything unconstitutional on a state-wide level from being able to qualify as a ballot initiative.
When our elected representatives aren’t doing their job and they aren’t working for the common good of the people, the people can file Initiatives. Initiatives serve as a form of media and they allow people to make direct votes that change laws. If we don’t use initiatives, we rely on the politicians. Reliance on the state legislature and senate, as well as the national congress and senate, is simply not an option today. They have failed us in dealing with the most important issues for generations.
We can use initiatives to make new laws where we need them, or to make laws that actually eliminate legalities we don’t want in our state!
We can eliminate corruption with the Initiative Process!
It’s time we take the initiative and get some choices on our ballots!
Initiatives give us the Power to Change the Law Ourselves.
Initiatives empower us to be in charge.
Initiatives can change our state laws to regulate the legislature, international corporations, the military, the police, public services, bureaucracies and more. States that have initiative rights but which do not have Referenda, Recall or Citizen Grand Jury, for example, can be empowered to create new rights. We are only limited by the constitutionality of our proposals and our imagination.
We can create justice for all with the intelligent implementation of the ballot initiative process. People can create statewide constitutional amendments for our strongest initiative power, and we can also create statewide and local statutory laws and ordinances.
Many states do not have statewide initiative rights but do have local rights. Sometimes, initiative rights are slightly weaker than allowing people to have direct votes immediately, and they have what are called Charter Amendments.
A Charter Amendment is an initiative that first puts a law change in front of the legislature to have a chance to vote on first, to see if they will vote in favor of it and accept the people’s will. If rejected, people can collect more signatures and put it on the ballot directly, just like a ballot initiative.
We can achieve all the goals of the people and re-establish constitutional checks and balances against corruption and tyranny.
